Research projects

The project investigates the implementation of Kazakhstan’s “Target Schools” initiative, which is designed to support schools with low educational outcomes. It addresses the institutional, organisational and professional dimensions of the initiative, including school-selection mechanisms, needs assessment, teacher professional development programmes, leadership and management support, and outcome monitoring.
The research design combines document and education-policy analysis, online surveys, semi-structured interviews, thematic analysis, an international comparative review and bibliometric analysis. Project findings will be used to produce scholarly publications, analytical materials and evidence-informed recommendations for improving school-support mechanisms and reducing educational inequality in
