OPENING OF THE RENOVATED LECTURE HALLS

Three renovated lecture halls were officially opened in Building 2 of Academician E.A. Buketov Karaganda National Research University. The halls were named after outstanding scholars who made invaluable contributions to the establishment and development of our university and to the advancement of science in Kazakhstan.
The ceremony was attended by N.O. Dulatbekov, a member of the National Kurultai, members of the University Board, faculty deans, academic staff, and university employees.
Lecture Hall No. 7 was named after Tolendy Garifovich Mustafin, a world-renowned mathematician, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and Professor. Tolendy Garifovich made fundamental contributions to the development of mathematical logic and model theory. He worked productively at Karaganda State University for many years, headed the Institute of Applied Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and established a strong scientific school in the region.
Lecture Hall No. 8 was named after Zhambyl Saulebekovich Akylbayev, an outstanding science administrator who headed Karaganda State University from 1991 to 2004. Under his leadership, the university entered a new era by introducing advanced educational systems and strengthening its international academic reputation.
Lecture Hall No. 9 was named after Kappas Kusainovich Kusainov, a distinguished scholar, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor. He devoted more than 25 years of his life to the university, progressing from lecturer to head of department. In 2003, he became the first director of the Institute of Physics at Karaganda State University, where he coordinated breakthrough research and innovative developments for industry.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the opening of the renovated halls represents much more than an infrastructure upgrade. It is a powerful symbol of continuity between generations, recognition of academic achievements, and preservation of the university’s historical legacy.
“Our alma mater is developing dynamically. We have built tremendous scientific potential, strong academic traditions, and a talented younger generation. I am confident that many more remarkable achievements and scientific discoveries lie ahead for the university,” emphasized N.O. Dulatbekov.
According to Madina Maksimovna Umurkulova, Acting Chairperson of the Board and Rector, the university will continue implementing its previously established plans to modernize its educational infrastructure this year. As part of this work, renovations of lecture halls across all university faculties will be completed, including those of the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Biology and Geography.
The renovated, bright, and technologically advanced lecture halls will become modern scientific and educational spaces where students can draw inspiration from the achievements of great predecessors and help shape the future of science in Kazakhstan!
