INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY

A meeting between the academic staff of the Faculty of History of Karaganda Buketov University and representatives of the Czech delegation was held.

The meeting took place within the framework of the international research project “The Land Gone Wild: Archaeology and Transdisciplinary Research on Resilience Strategies in the 20th Century,” implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic and the European Union.

The project brings together researchers from Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic and focuses on the study of the archaeological and historical heritage of the 20th century, as well as comparative research of camp complexes in the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan.

Particular attention is paid to sites associated with the history of Jáchymov in the Karlovy Vary Region of western Czechia and the Terekti camp in Kazakhstan. The comparative approach makes it possible to examine more closely the formation and functioning of camp complexes in the late 1940s–1950s and to deepen scholarly understanding of the historical processes of this period.

The project includes archaeological research, the exchange of academic knowledge, and the development of joint research approaches.

The Karaganda Buketov University research team includes Z.G. Saktaganova, G.M. Baigozhina, D.A. Dzhumabekov, S.V. Eleukhanova, and K.K. Abdrahmanova.

Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic contributes to the development of historical research, the preservation of cultural heritage, and a deeper understanding of the past.
