THE LIVING LEGACY OF A GREAT THINKER

On August 10, Kazakhstan celebrates the 181st anniversary of the birth of Abai Kunanbayev, the great Kazakh poet, thinker and educator.

Abai’s legacy, including his renowned Words of Edification, is regarded as a spiritual guide and an essential foundation of Kazakhstan’s national culture. On this day, literary readings, flower-laying ceremonies at monuments to Abai, and various cultural events are held across the country.
