FROM TRANSFORMATION TO INTEGRATION

On August 5–6, 2026, the Forum on the Future of Academic Libraries (WAL 2026) was held in Fuzhou. The theme of the forum was “From Transformation to Integration: Libraries as an Innovative Driving Force for Sustainable Development.”

The event brought together more than 600 library directors, experts, and scholars from 15 countries and regions for in-depth discussions and an exchange of views on the forum’s central theme.

The main forum featured three key thematic areas:

* “Sustainable Development of Libraries and Innovation in Service Models”;
* “Transformation and Reconstruction of Academic Libraries in the AI Era and the Development of the Library Ecosystem”;
* “A New Landscape of Cross-Sector Integration and Sustainable Development of Libraries Driven by AI.”
