History:
The Department of Inorganic and Technical Chemistry (the original name is the Department of Inorganic Chemistry) is one of the first departments of the Faculty of Chemistry and was established in 1972. The first head of the department was a well-known chemist, who made a worthy contribution to the formation of the department, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Akbet Kozhakova Amanbaevna. For 30 years, the department has been headed by such well-known chemical scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of the department: Professor Aldabergenov M.K., Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Mataev M.M., Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Sharipova Z.M., Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Kokibasova G.T.

Today, the department employs renowned chemical scientists, teachers, and young scientists who have been trained in foreign universities and research centers. Leadership and accreditation:
All educational programs of the department are accredited by the NAOKO Agency. They participate annually and always take prizes, starting in 2009, in the ratings of NAOKO, NAAR and Atameken educational programs. In 2020, all educational programs of the department took 1st place in the ranking of bachelor's and master's degree programs of the NAOKO agency.
Projects of the department:
The teachers of the department conduct scientific research on 5 projects within the framework of grant funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and priority areas: scientific research in the field of natural sciences; geology, extraction and processing of mineral and hydrocarbon raw materials, new materials, technologies, safe products and structures; research in the field of education and science. Students and undergraduates of the department actively participate in the implementation of grant projects.

There are 74 enterprises and organizations, the department has its own branch on the basis of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemical and Biological Sciences in Karaganda.

The employment rate of bachelor's degree graduates in 2020 was 98%, and that of master's degree graduates was 100%.
