About the department

Welcome to the department of physical and analytical chemistry

Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry trains specialists for the chemical, metallurgical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as for the fields of education, science, and ecology, through two educational programs – “Chemistry” and “Fundamental Chemistry.” The department also offers the opportunity for multilingual education at three levels: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral (PhD) programs.Students of the department have the opportunity to study along two educational tracks: “Physicochemical Analysis” and “Physical and Computational Chemistry”. The curriculum includes such relevant disciplines as “Computational Nanotechnology in Chemistry”, “Quantum Mechanics and Computational Chemistry”, “Molecular Design of Chemical Materials” and “Conformational Analysis of Organic Compounds”.Graduates of the department will be able to work in production laboratories of analytical, environmental, customs, sanitary and epidemiological, and certification services; in research organizations (institutes and laboratories) of chemical, petrochemical, environmental, metallurgical, and pharmaceutical profiles; as well as in general secondary educational institutions and education departments.The research interests of the department are related to the study of current issues in chemistry, including EPR spectroscopy and quantum chemistry of the structure and reactivity of free radicals; physicochemical studies of chalcogenides of the copper subgroup and first-row transition metals; and quantum-chemical investigations of liquid crystalline compounds.A Computational Chemistry Laboratory operates within the department. It is equipped with a server, workstations, and specialized software for computer modeling of chemical compounds and reactions, as well as for performing quantum-chemical calculations.
