Welcome to the department of political science and sociology

The Department of Political Science and Sociology, established in 1995, trains bachelors and masters in Political Science and Sociology. Students study along "Political Science" and "Sociology" tracks. Political science students take courses such as "Political Power," "Policy of Counteracting Terrorism and Extremism," "National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan," and "World Politics and International Relations." Sociology students study "Sociology of Management," "Methodology of Sociological Research," "Ethnosociology," "Sociology of Family," and more. Department students have access to global information resources and scientific literature. Second-year students undergo practical training in government bodies and educational institutions. Graduates can work in government agencies, engage in expert and analytical activities, and teach. The department actively conducts research in areas such as "Kazakhstani Model of Transformation: Socio-Political Context," and "Gender and Family Sociology."
