Welcome to the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Theory!
The Department of Philosophy and Theory of Culture trains specialists in the socio-humanities across three levels of higher education. These include bachelors, masters, and Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) in the "Philosophy" program, as well as bachelors in the "Religious Studies" program. The department provides instruction for the course "History and Philosophy of Science" for all master's degree programs, and the courses "Philosophy" and "Cultural Studies" for all bachelor's degree programs. For bachelor's students, relevant disciplines are taught, such as "Religions of Kazakhstan," "Artificial intelligence in religious studies," "The philosophy of digital reality," and "Archetypes of Kazakh Mentality." The department's scientific interests cover issues of contemporary philosophy and the religious factor in the spiritual life of modern Kazakhstan. Students, master's students, and doctoral candidates conduct research at the Research Laboratory for Comprehensive Study of the Religious Situation in Kazakhstan, headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor B.I. Karipbayev. Students of the department are recipients of named scholarships, including the Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and prize-winners of various competitions. Graduates of the department can work as experts, social analysts, and consultants on management and religious issues in government bodies, research institutes, and media, as well as teach philosophy and socio-humanities disciplines in educational institutions.
