Welcome to the department of civil and labor law!
The Department of civil and labor law provides training within a three-level system of higher education programs:
· Bachelor’s degree — “6B04205 – Legal Regulation of Entrepreneurial Activity”;
· Master’s degree — “7M04205 – Private Law” (scientific and pedagogical), “7M04205.1 – Private Law” (specialized);
· Doctoral studies — training of Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) under the educational program “8D04201 – Jurisprudence”.
The academic staff of the department provides training for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students within the civil-law cycle of academic disciplines, including: “Civil Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan (General Part)”, “Civil Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Special Part)”, “Civil Procedural Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Labor Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Private International Law”, “Family Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, as well as a wide range of compulsory and elective courses in the field of private law, including:
“Legal Regulation of Public Procurement and Tender Support”;
“Protection of the Rights of E-Commerce Participants”;
“Competition Law”;
“Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs and Consumers”;
“Alternative Methods of Resolving Civil Law Disputes”;
“Contracts for the Provision of Services for Consideration”, and others.
Modern interactive teaching methods are used in combination with traditional forms of instruction.
Graduates of the department may work as lawyers in commercial and non-commercial organizations, including consulting agencies, insurance, audit and investment companies, financial organizations, and other institutions; as HR specialists; lawyers in legal departments or divisions of public authorities; human resources specialists at enterprises; legal consultants; legal representatives and advocates; notaries or notary assistants; judges; mediators; patent and copyright protection specialists; enforcement officers; individual entrepreneurs; heads of commercial legal entities, and in other legal professions.
The department’s research focuses on current issues of civil law in the sphere of property law, law of obligations, and corporate law, as well as contemporary trends in the transformation of private law and methods of teaching it, driven by socio-economic changes in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The department has a branch based at the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Karaganda Region. In accordance with the branch’s work plan, its main areas of activity include organizing and conducting students’ educational and industrial internships at the Chamber of Entrepreneurs; providing assistance by the Chamber of Entrepreneurs to the Department’s academic staff in collecting and summarizing practical materials in order to strengthen the practice-oriented component of the educational process; and other related activities.
The academic staff of the department, as well as students of the “ZanONE” student organization, actively engage in research and creative activities.
The Legal Clinic of Karaganda National Research University named after academician Ye.A. Buketov provides consultations to citizens and offers free legal advisory assistance on matters related to family and marriage legislation, inheritance law, housing, banking, labor and civil-law relations, enforcement of court decisions, compensation for harm to health, and other legal issues.
In addition to its regular scheduled activities, the Legal Clinic annually organizes thematic campaigns entitled “Lawyers provide consultations.”
The department regularly conducts educational and extracurricular activities, as well as various competitions, campaigns, and olympiads aimed at developing and showcasing students’ creative potential.
Members of the department’s academic staff participate in the discussion and expert review of draft laws and prepare legal opinions on draft regulatory legal acts.
The department has the following specialized facilities: a Courtroom, a Mediation Room, a Legal Information Room, as well as a collection of educational and scientific literature.
